Deepika Padukone impresses Romi Dev with her transformation for Ranveer Singhs ’83

Deepika Padukone who will be seen essaying the role of Kapil Dev's wife Romi Dev, in the upcoming film '83, seems to have impressed Romi Dev with her transformation. Here's what Romi felt on seeing Deepika transform as her for the film.

Deepika Padukone will be seen playing the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev in Kabir Khan’s 83, which is Kapil Dev’s biopic and tells the story of India’s underdog victory in the 1983 ICC World Cup. Romi was reportedly blown away with Deepika’s act for Kabir Khan’s 83. The film that features Ranveer Singh as Kapil, recently completed filming and Deepika also threw a wrap party for the team.

A source quoted the film’s producer Vishnu Induri and revealed how Romi on first seeing Deepika on the sets felt like she was looking at a mirror image of herself from 20 years ago and also noticed there is a striking similarity between the two. The source said, “When Romi saw Deepika on the set, she remarked that she was looking at a mirror image of herself, from 20 years ago. There is a striking similarity. Kabir and Ranveer had met the Devs at their Delhi home for 10 days before the London schedule, so the director had the opportunity to discuss the inputs with Deepika before they began the shoot.”

The reports also further state that Romi casually dropped in on the sets while Deepika was filming for the film in London back in July and Romi was left stunned with the transformation. The source stated, “In the film, Dippy sports a shorter hairdo, but has not resorted to using prosthetics. The makers plan to reveal her look as part of the run-up to the teaser’s release. During their meetings, Dippy would carefully study her behaviour and has brought these traits alive in front of the camera.”

Helmed by Kabir Khan and co-produced by Reliance Entertainment, Phantom Films and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film also features Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Hardy Sandhu and Chirag Patil. ’83 will hit theatres on April 10, 2020.
