The untimely demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput sent emotional shockwaves not only across the B-Town but also across the nation. The Kai Po Che actor’s death led to a heated debate on the social media platforms regarding nepotism in the industry and in general Bollywood camps. Many people have claimed that Sushant became the victim of the politics in the industry which eventually led him to take the drastic step.
Post Sushant’s death, netizens also started to discuss the importance of mental health and the taboo surrounding the same. Some reports claim that the late actor was battling depression for the past couple of months and was under treatment.
Meanwhile, actress Deepika Padukone who has been quite open about her struggle with depression and anxiety took to social media to highlight the importance of discussions about mental health after Sushant’s unfortunate demise.
A day ago, Deepika slammed the paparazzi for sensationalizing the death of the Chhichhore actor. She left a comment on a paparazzi’s post as the actor’s body was being taken from the hospital to the crematorium for the last rites. The caption on the video read, “Please note my images and videos cannot be posted on any platforms without my written consent.”
Responding to the same, Deepika commented, “Right. But it is OK for you to take this video and not only post it but also probably monetize it without his or his family’s written consent?”
Apart from Deepika many netizens too raised their voice about how insensible it was for someone to share the images of Sushant’s dead body on social media platforms and how this behaviour indicates the lack of empathy prevailing in the society.
Sushant Singh Rajput died of suicide on June 14, 2020, his dead body was found at his residence in Mumbai. The Mumbai Police are currently investigating the case and they have also recorded the statements of the people who were close to the 34-year old actor.
