Debut Of Sushmita Sen’s Daughter And A Debate On Nepotism

Sushmita Sen's daughter Renee recently made her acting debut with a short film. Here's what the mother-daughter duo thinks about nepotism.

A debate on Nepotism has been going on for the longest time now. Last year, when the discussion around the same fueled up after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Sushmita Sen had also shared her journey. With no godfathers in the industry, Sushmita achieved everything with her hard work and talent.

And now, her elder daughter Renee is moving towards making a career in the film line. The 21-year-old Renee made her acting debut recently with a 15-min short film. Though she aced her role in the short film, but it also leads us back to the debate on nepotism. How does Sushmita balance this situation? Being aware of the curse that nepotism is and also making sure that her daughter gets the best, the lining is thin.

Now, recently, Renee herself talked about the privileges she gets and also told that Sushmita is making sure that she never misuses them. Renee said, “I am aware of how privileged I am. I know there are lakhs of people coming to Mumbai to become actors. I don’t want to boast but being her daughter has been the biggest privilege. So, the biggest disservice I will do if I am dishonest with my work.”

She further added, “My mother always says that you must be deserving, and you cannot just take someone’s place because you are my daughter, if you don’t earn it then don’t be in it. I am very lucky, and I have to earn being here every day.”

Well, the good part is how Sushmita has taught her daughter how to get work based on her talent and not because she is her daughter. And it is rare to see a star kid acknowledging the privilege instead of trying to explain that they too have certain struggles.
