Sunny Deol is gearing up for his forthcoming film Chup: Revenge of Artist. The film helmed by R Balki is scheduled to release on 23rd September. Apart from Chup, Sunny has a sequel of his iconic film Gadar Ek Prem Katha in his upcoming projects. However, the actor has stayed away from remakes despite a few. Completing almost four decades in the industry he doesn’t believe in the concept of remakes.
In his share of remakes, Sunny appeared in Nigaahein and Yamla Pagla Deewana 2. And now the actor has remakes of his own films in the pipeline. Mr. Deol is said to feature in Apne 2 and Gadar 2. During the interviews of Chup, the actor opened of on his thoughts about remakes.
Sunny Deol said, “I always look for something different. I am fed up of making remakes, for instance. I must have done one or two of those. But, I prefer something fresh. Let us discover and see what it turns out to be. Most of the times when we do remakes also, they turn out to be messy because the (original) film had a soul. And somehow we missed that.”
The actor further added, “When I came in to the industry, my dad (Dharmendra), Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan), Shatru ji (Shatrughan Sinha), all these actors were there. Cinema was of a different genre. And I came with Betaab, Arjun, Yateem and all these were different. I was enjoying doing that and was fortunate enough that the directors and writers were looking at that. They found me and I found them and it kind of moved ahead.”
Talking about Sunny’s upcoming film Chup, it is a homage to filmmaker Guru Dutt. Chup: Revenge of the Artist is one of the aspiring projects of the ace director R Balki. The much-awaited edge-of-the-seat thriller will release on 23rd September 2022. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt, and Shreya Dhanwanthary in the lead roles. It marks the Bollywood return of south cinema superstar Dulquer to Hindi movies after The Zoya Factor. Sunny Deol and Pooja Bhatt will make a comeback to films after Blank and Sadak 2 respectively.
