Boman Irani’s Screenplay Writing Workshop ‘Spiral Bound’ Clocks In A Year

the workshop now clocks in a year and the multifaceted actor who founded it couldn't be happier.

A cinephile through and through, Boman Irani pieced together a one-of-kind screenplay writing workshop called “Spiral Bound” with the endeavor to simplify the craft for film students of all ages. The first workshop of Spiral Bound was conducted by Alexander Dinelaris – Oscar-winning film Birdman’s screenwriter and a dear friend to Boman post the launch of his production house, ‘Irani Movietone’. After having completed over 291 sessions, the workshop now clocks in a year and the multifaceted actor who founded it couldn’t be happier.

Lauded for his impactful performances in “Don”, “3 Idiots”, and “Lage Raho Munnabhai”, Irani answered his call as a storyteller with “Spiral Bound”. Within just a year, the workshop has turned out to be the go-to portal for eager learners aspiring to break into the screenplay writing scene. The unique initiative came about in the middle of the lockdown last year and it offers a learning opportunity to budding writers from different walks of life. Given that the OTT platforms have risen as strong forces in the pandemic, the standards and quality of cinema must step up with power-packed content. Addressing the challenge, Spiral Bound emerges as an advantageous guide and it is available free of charge.

Boman says, “I am so happy to have cultivated a fresh hunger for learning cinema through Spiral Bound. Not to mention, the workshop also gave me a family of students, who amaze me with their curiosity and their distinct thought processes. It is wonderful to be celebrating the first anniversary of the workshop with them. What started as a step towards being a student of cinema, has resulted in an incredible journey. God bless them.”

On the work front, Boman’s upcoming project is Jayeshbhai Joradaar, and Ajay Devgn’s “Runway 34”.
