In the Indian Cinema, Bollywood vs South films debate is never-ending. It has been discussed and debated for ages but no common ground has been found yet. Some consider both as one commonly calling it Indian Cinema while others take it as two different film industries. However, with the development, both industries are joining hands.
Bollywood is joining hands with south stars and vice versa. For better clarification, recent films like KGF 2, Pushpa, and RRR made a hit even among Hindi film audiences. The latter film roped in Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan while KGF 2 also starred Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon. Similarly, in Hindi movies, Karwaan and Zoya Factor starred Dulquer Salmaan. Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali will feature Jagapati Babu and Venkatesh. In short, the South film industry and the Hindi film industry go hand in hand.
Recently young actor Varun Dhawan shared his thoughts on the highly conversed subject. Varun who is busy promoting his upcoming film Jug Jugg Jeeyo commented on the debate. During a media interaction, the actor said, “Cinema is doing well right now. The audience has the right to watch the cinema they want to watch. Hollywood films have been working for so many years. It is because they are liking it and, therefore, they are watching it. I myself enjoyed watching KGF 2. I had a great time watching it. It is one of the biggest grosser right now.”
Continuing the same conversation the actor was asked about Hindi movies that flopped in the recent past, Varun added, “7-8 major flops have happened in their cinema also. That has also happened because nothing was released in the last 2 and a half years. I feel a good film will come. In the Hindi film industry, we have a lot of good films coming up. Every film can’t be a hit. The audience won’t watch a bad film, whether it is English, Hindi, or a South film. They will not watch.”
Varun Dhawan will be next seen alongside Kiara Advani in Jug Jugg Jeeyo. The family drama also stars Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in the leading roles. The film set to hit the theaters on 24th June is directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Viacom18 Studios and Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta under Dharma Productions.
