Bollywood Biggies React To Masakali 2.0; Check Out

After music composer A R Rahman, Prasoon Joshi along with Delhi 6 director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra react to Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria starrer Masakali 2.0. Read below to know more.

There is a recent trend in Bollywood of remaking old songs and giving them a modern touch. While certain remake songs stand out and do wonders, others just become a meme material and cringe-worthy to listen. The recent Bollywood song which got a remake in Masakali from the 2009 movie Delhi 6 starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor.

The modern remake of this decade-old song features Marjaavaan pair- Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria. The Masakali 2.0 is something which the music lovers are trying to get over because they think that the remake version doesn’t do justice to the original song with soothing and catchy lyrics.

Earlier A R Rahman who composed the music for the original song sang by Mohit Chauhan reacted to the 2.0 version of Masakali by tweeting, “No short cuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and re-writes. Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations. A team of a Director, a Composer and a Lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew.” – Lots of love and prayers A.R. Rahman.”

Lyricist Prasoon Joshi also expressed his views on the Masakali 2.0. Joshi tweeted, “All songs written for #Delhi6 including #Masakali close to heart, sad to see when original creation of @arrahman @prasoonjoshi_ & singer @_MohitChauhan insensitively utilised. Upto the conscience of  @Tseries. Hopefully the fans will stand for originality. @RakeyshOmMehra.”

The director of the 2009 movie Delhi 6, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra too confessed his feelings on the 2.0 version of Masakali by tweeting, “#Delhi6 the movie & it’s songs created with so much Luv & passion, let’s save the original creations for generations to come. #saynotoRemixes.”

Not only have the Bollywood biggies reacted to Masakali 2.0 but also the netizens took the social media by storm to express their views on the song. Many netizens said that they felt the remake of Masakali ruined the original song which was a chartbuster at the time.
