Bhumi Pednekar Speaks On The Types Of Films She Chooses To Do

The gorgeous actress Bhumi Pednekar has definitely cemented her place in the Bollywood industry. She is known for her choice of cinema and progressive roles. The actress usually opts for the roles which gives some moral message in the end. In a recent interaction, Bhumi Pednekar speaks of the types of films she chooses to do and why she does them.

Bhumi Pednekar made a grand entry in Bollywood with the 2015 film Dum Laga Ke Haisha. In the movie, she shared the screen space with Ayushmann Khurrana. For the unknown, Pednekar even won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her stellar performance in the movie.

In Dum Laga Ke Haisa, Bhumi essays the role of an over-weight wife. Thus allegedly she broke the stereotype of a thin wife in the majority of the Bollywood movies. Ever since her debut, the 31-year old has climbed the ladder of success.

Bhumi Pednekar has given some brilliant performances in movies like Shubh Magal Savadhan, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Saand Ki Aankh, Pati Patni Aur Woh, and the recent one Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitaare. The interesting thing about these movies is that they sparked a conversation in society.

The majority of the films Bhumi has been a part of, aim at some taboo or stereotypical topic. Usually, her movies prove to be an eye-opener for the masses.

Bhumi Pednekar on why she chooses to do films she does, she said, “I think my films should entertain people but at the same time, it does seek to leave audiences with a thought that will hopefully change their thinking for the better.”

Furthermore, she added, “Most of my films have had the heavy social messaging but even if you think of a film like Pati Patni Aur Woh, which was an out and out entertainer when you look at that film, you know the film tells you that you don’t have to succumb to societal pressures of marriage.”

Explaining herself, Pednekar said, “Staying in the marriage is as much a woman’s choice too.”

The actress then went on to mention that with her films she makes sure that the message is not preachy. As in the end, she also wants to entertain the masses.

Bhumi Pednekar also confessed that there isn’t any formula to make films work. She says that it’s all a gamble. Thankfully, the films she has done have worked out and have earned her recognition.

On the work front, Bhumi Pednekar has Durgavati in her kitty. The film will reportedly release in the next month.
