Bhumi Pednekar made her Bollywood debut in Dum Laga Ke Haisha and has impressed audiences with her performances ever since. She has played diverse roles from the films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Sonchiriya, Bala to the most recent, Bhakshak and the director Anubhav Sinha recently shared his thoughts on how despite her her talent and versatility, saying Bhumi Pednekar hasn’t gotten the recognition she truly deserves.
Director Anubhav Sinha Praises Bhumi Pednekar’s Talent
Anubhav Sinha, who directed Bhumi in the 2023 film Bheed, talked about her in a conversation with casting director Mukesh Chhabra. Reflecting on a behind-the-scenes moment from Bheed, which also starred Rajkummar Rao, Sinha remembered a particular scene and praised Bhumi. “Bahut acchi ladki hai, bahut acchi actress bhi hai!,” he said.
During the conversation, Sinha emphasized that Bhumi’s talent hasn’t been fully recognized by the film industry. “She’s a wonderful human being and a brilliant actress, but I don’t think the business has still done justice to her,” he explained. Mukesh Chhabra agreed with Sinha, saying “Correct, she deserves more I feel”. Sinha added, “Yes, but its not late either, so, it will happen”.
In addition to praising Bhumi, Anubhav Sinha also spoke highly of Rajkummar Rao. He called him a “fantastic” and “hardworking” actor, mentioning how Rajkummar continues to surprise audiences with his roles. “Raj is a very ‘submissive’ actor and can adapt to different roles. I’m so happy with the success he’s enjoying right now,” Sinha said.
Bhumi Pednekar was recently seen in Bhakshak, a Netflix film directed by Pulkit, where she played a journalist investigating abuse cases. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao has had a successful run with films like Srikanth, Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, and Stree 2. He is also set to star in Maalik, where he will portray a mass hero for the first time.
Anubhav Sinha recently gained attention with his real-life-inspired web series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, which premiered on Netflix on August 29, 2024.
