Actress Bhumi Pednekar, who has name for herself with her unique film choices, burst into the Indian film industry with an incredible performance as an overweight yet supremely confident girl, Sandhya, in ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’. The social drama, which also starred Ayusmann Khurrana completes 8 years today.
And to celebrate the 8th anniversary of her debut film, the actress took to Instagram and dropped a special deleted scene form the film.
She also wrote a long note thanking YRF for introducing her as a female lead. “Here is a deleted scene from my first love. Firsts are always special. Can’t believe it has been 8 years already! I was so fortunate to have started my career as an actor with a film that broke the stereotype of how heroines were presented in Indian cinema.”
She adds, “I was proud to be the new @yrf heroine – real, authentic, proud, righteous, self-reliant, body-positive and a girl who was so so beautiful. Body-shaming is a big social evil. Let’s celebrate every human being’s right to individuality.”
Dum Laga Ke Haisa was directed by Sharat Katariya. The film tells a story of a Prem (Ayushmann Khurrana), a school dropout, hesitantly marries an educated but overweight girl, Sandhya (Bhumi). However, the two come closer when they take part in a race, which involves Prem carrying Sandhya on his back.
