The 2007 super hit horror comedy film now almost after 15 years, now awaits its theatrical release of its second instalment starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani on the 20th of May. But before witnessing the Kartik and team led horror flick, it would be a safe bet to re-witness the first part of the film and relive the nostalgic moments again from the Akshay Kumar starrer film. For the unversed, Bhool Bhulaiyaa is the Hindi remake of the popular Malayalam movie, then helmed by the Tamil remake, finally officially being remade in Hindi in the year 2007.
The Akshay- Vidya Balan starrer helmed by renowned director Priyadarshan, was the remake of Mohanlal Shobana starrer “Manichitrathazhu”, later helmed by Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, aka Thalaiva, in 2005 in the super hit Tamil flick titled “Chandramukhi”. With its official remake in Hindi, the movie was a super hit at the box office, racking almost 50 crores and was also critically claimed by many, for the actors’ brilliant performance in the film.

Although the second part of the film stars talented young generation star Kartik Aaryan, fans of Akki were quite upset, since the announcement o the film, who were eager to witness him helming the film. But the maker of Bhool Bhulaiya 2, Anees Bazmee revealed at the trailer launch of the film, why Akshay or Vidya wasn’t the part of the film.
He said, “Akshay ji jo hain wo great actor hain…dosti bhi achi hai humari…kaash aisa hota ki iss film mein inko thoda bohot le ke aa paate, toh naturally bohot fayda hota. Lekin script ne woh mauka hi nahi diya (Akshay Kumar is a great actor and we are good friends, but he and Vidya did not fit in the script. It would have been profitable to work with him)”

He also mentioned how the sophomore part has a different approach, as against the first part. “Ye film ke andar humne bohot alag kisam ka script pe kaam kiya hain…Rajpal ke alava sare log bilkul ek fresh approach liya hain (We have taken a different approach to the script. Everyone’s character is fresh except Rajpal Yadav,)” he said.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will hit the theatres on 20 May 2022.
