Brahmastra 2: Ayan Mukerji’s film Brahmastra was undoubtedly one of the most hyped and much-anticipated films of the year. With almost 10 years spent in the making, the film has now finally been released in the theatres. With the first installment of the film just released in the theatres, the fans have already started to predict the casting of the second part of the film. It was earlier rumored that either Hrithik or Ranveer will be seen essaying the role of “Dev” in the second part, meanwhile, in a recent interview, Ayan Mukerji was finally seen addressing the rumors and spilling some crucial details about the sequel.
Ayan Mukerji Shares Details About “Dev” In Brahmastra 2
After Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated cameo in Brahmastra, it was earlier believed that either Hrithik or Ranveer Singh will be seen in the second installment of the film as “Dev”. Apparently, there was an official announcement made by the makers at the end of Brahamstra’s first installment that the second part of the film will be featuring a new character named “Dev” who will be the lead antagonist in the film and will also be the father of “Shiva” (Ranbir Kapoor).
Addressing the rumors, Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji finally opened up about the much-anticipated character of “Dev” in the second installment of Brahmastra which will be released three years from now, in 2025. Ayan Mukerji told IndianExpress.com, “I can answer very few things about Dev. The idea was to create a very clear indication about where we are going next with the storytelling. That now we are really getting into the story of our antagonist. Decoding it, giving you some hook to hang on to for part two. Dev is the fulcrum of the entire Brahmastra trilogy.”
Ayan further added that the script of part 2 of Brahmastra is already in place and will soon start the shoot, talking about the expected release date of Brahamstra part 2, Ayan said, “We will go on floors the day we are rested from part one. The core team comes together and we say, ‘Ok we want to make part two and want it to release in 2025 December and we are aiming for that’. And then we are on floors”
Meanwhile, as for the rumors about casting Hrithik Roshan or Ranveer Singh as “Dev” in the second installment, Ayan told News18, “I can’t reveal who Dev is. I have been reading a lot of names but it will be a mystery for a while.”
Netizens On Casting Ranveer As “Dev”
The much-anticipated character, Dev will be the father of Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) and also the original wielder of Agni Astra. While a glimpse of Deepika Padukone’s look as the “Jalastra” was also unveiled in the film. And ever since the announcement, the netizens have been suggesting that the role of “Dev” should be played by none other than Ranveer Singh himself as he shares good chemistry with Deepika Padukone. On the other hand, it was earlier reported that Hrithik Roshan had already turned down the offer to play the role of “Dev” in the second installment of Brahmastra as he already has many projects in his kitty for now.
