Actor, singer and director Dhanush has announced separation from his wife Aishwaryaa Rajnikanth. He took to Twitter to inform his fans about their decision to part ways. For the unaware, Aishwaryaa is the eldest daughter of superstar Rajnikanth. She works as a film director and playback singer.
Dhanush and Aishwarya got married on 18 November 2004. They have two sons named Yatra and Linga, who were born in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
Ending 18 years of marriage, Dhanush wrote, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate..Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this.”
Aishwaryaa also shared the same note on her Instagram profile.
Dhanush made his acting debut in 2002 with the Tamil film ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’. In 2011, he gained massive popularity when his song ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ went viral. In 2013, he made his Bollywood debut with Aanand L Rai’s film ‘Raanjhanaa’. He was recently seen in the Hindi film ‘Atrangi Re’ alongside Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan. The film was released on 24 Dec 2021 on Disney+Hotstar.
