Filmmaker Atlee Kumar is busy shooting for his upcoming film Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan. But according to latest reports, Atlee is soon going to direct another Hindi film, which will be a remake of his own directorial venture Therri (2016). The remake will star Varun Dhawan.
According to some media reports Atlee and Varun have been in talks for a while about a new project, which will be a remake of the Thalapathy Vijay starrer Theri. After much discussion, Varun has finally given the go-ahead for the venture. However, while he has verbally agreed to feature in Atlee’s next, the young actor is yet to sign the dotted line.
The said venture will be bankrolled by both Murad Khetani and Atlee, with the latter looking to commence work on the project either in June or September this year. The director is expected to start working on the project by June or September this year. However, an official confirmation is awaited.
The original 2016 Tamil film featured Vijay in the title role with Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson as the leading ladies. The story told the tale of a father and a former police officer who is determined to save his daughter from his past enemies The film was a huge box office hit in Tamil.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan was last seen in horror comedy Bhediya (2022). Amar Kaushik also starred Kriti Sanon, Deepak Dobriyal and Abhishek Banerjee among others. On the work front, the actor would be next seen in Bawaal alongside Janhvi Kapoor. The film is being helmed by Nitish Tiwari.
