Actor Vikrant Massey is one of the promising actors in the entertainment industry. The actor’s journey from television to starring in some of the big movies in Bollywood has been inspirational, and he has proved his worth as an actor in the past few years. Vikrant was last seen alongside Deepika Padukone in Chhapaak and his role in the movie was critically acclaimed.
In the meantime, amid the Sushant Singh Rajput case, a lot of actors have stepped forward to call out nepotism and favouritism existing in the industry. Now, Vikrant Massey also has come forward to share his bitter experience.
For the unversed, Massey was nominated for the best actor category by a popular award show. However, the shocking thing is that he wasn’t invited for the same. Although the actor didn’t mention the name of the award function or the film, he surely wasn’t much bothered by the act.
In a conversation with a popular news daily, Vikrant Massey spilled the beans on his last tweet. The tweet was in support of actor Vidyut Jammwal who wasn’t invited to the Disney Plus Hotstar conference. This incident happened even when Vidyut’s film will be releasing on the OTT platform alongside Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom, Alia Bhatt’s Sadak 2, and the other 5 films.
Massey said, “I was saying that the other actors should have been invited as well. It has happened to me too. I remember, I was nominated for the Best Actor Jury category in a popular award function, but wasn’t invited to the event. So, should I be hurt by that? No. It doesn’t matter to me kyunki system hi aisa hai. I am only focused on work.”
Vikrant also spoke about the struggle he faced during the initial shift from television to Bollywood. He then made his debut with Lootera in 2013 but he was initially rejected for the same.
Vikrant shared that back then TV actors weren’t given much importance. He was told that TV actors don’t have much to do in films. He revealed that he was rejected after he auditioned for Lootera but 20 days prior to the shoot he got the call and he thinks that it was sheer luck.
He concluded by saying that a career in Bollywood is a mix of luck and the opportunities you get. And he then expressed his gratitude towards all the filmmakers who saw his ability and gave him substantial roles.
