The sad demise of Actor Sushant Singh Rajput has sparked the debate on nepotism and now actor Saif Ali Khan, who plays a cameo in Sushant's last movie Dil Bechara is being trolled for his comment on nepotism.
On microblogging site #SaifAliKhan started trending after the 49-year old actor dropped the word "N" during an interview . Saif who is son of the actress Sharmila Tagore and great cricketing Tiger Pataudi, steered into very confusing waters by calling himself as a "victim of nepotism."
For the unversed Saif Ali Khan in the past, advocated nepotism and even lectured the audience on eugenics' intricacies. With this in mind, read what Saif said in an interview to The New Indian Express: "There is inequality in India that needs to be explored. Nepotism, favouritism and camps are different subjects. Even I have been a victim of nepotism but nobody speaks of that. I'm happy to see more people from film institutes come to the forefront."
Although his views on discrimination and merit advocacy are welcome, Saif's casting himself as being in some way disadvantaged by nepotism rather than having gained from it is disconcerting-more so because he gave no reason as to why he feels he is a victim. The Internet wouldn't buy it. In its element, Twitter has turned the claimed victimhood of Saif Ali Khan into memes and jokes.

There were also several tweets that reminded the actor not just of his own heritage but also of his legacy.

Also If you don't remember about that National Award So for his performance in 2004 rom-com Hum Tum, Saif Ali Khan won the National Award for Best Actor, raising many eyebrows at the time and sparking speculation that the role of his mother Sharmila Tagore as Censor Board president had been a factor in his victory.
Saif Ali Khan says that he has been a victim of nepotism. Yeah that's why you had got National Award for Hum Tum instead of SRK for Swades. #SRK #ShahRukhKhan— Rohit Agrawal (@rohit__6428) July 2, 2020
Slow Clap for you #Saifalikhan pic.twitter.com/MsFVvvSPOU
Twitteratti voiced the opinion that the award was more deserving of other performances of the year, for example, Shah Rukh Khan's in Swades.
#SaifAliKhan khan saying I was also victim of nepotism 🥺— ⚡️Raees Happu⚡️ (@TheBoy_WhoIived) July 2, 2020
The biggest robbery in national awards happened because of your mom actually. Everyone was sure SRK is getting it for Swades.
But Saif got it for usual Rom Com Hum tum.
There is no doubt about his talent as it is evident through his work in recent times such as Langda Tyagi in Omkara and Sartaj Singh in Sacred Games speak for themselves. But when it comes to talking about nepotism in an intelligent and sensible way, however, obviously seems to be as much beyond him, one of the most educated and intellectual representatives of Bollywood, as it is for others.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Saif Ali Khan has a crazy busy schedule. His film line-up includes Hunter and Bhoot Police. The actor starred in this year's period drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Jawaani Jaaneman comedy-drama.
