Kangana Ranaut can never stay away from controversy or vice versa! She for her upcoming next release, Thalaivi – the Jayalalithaa biopic seems to have found herself in a legal hassle as the Madras High Court has permitted the niece of the deceased South cinema screen queen and erstwhile Tamil Nadu Chief Minister permission to sue the makers of the film. Not only this but also any other projects based on Jayalalithaa's life that are in the pipeline.

Deepa in early November told the Madras High Court that how the filmmakers had no legal rights to produce a film on Jayalalithaa and they went ahead with the production without even consulting her or seeking her permission as the former politician and actress’ legal chief. She also further added that the film couldn't not only harm her aunt's and their family's privacy, and also alleged that it's because of the monetary benefits, the makers are producing the biopic. She demanded that the script should be submitted to her before the project goes ahead.

The permission granted by the Madras High Court not only means that Deepa can sue Director AL Vijay and producer Vishnu Vardhan for Thalaivi but even Gautham Menon who has planned a web series on the life of Jayalalithaa, titled Queen, which also stars Ramya Krishnan. Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi was also to be made in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Kangana is yet to reply about the verdict. So will the production of the film go ahead? Only time will tell!
