The 2012 Delhi gang-rape case eventually ended in the early hours of Friday morning when four death row felons were hanged to death in Tihar jail. The last-minute pleas of the Nirbhaya case convicts were rejected hours before their execution and they were hanged after they attempted to secure an extension for the last two months.

The Nirbhaya case, which called the attention from all over has contributed to a profound improvement in India's judiciary system for rape victims.

The 23-year-old student in physiotherapy, who was brutally gang-raped in 2012 on a moving bus in Delhi and died days later in a hospital in Singapore, has finally got justice. Her father, Badrinath Singh, spoke Friday morning to the media outside Tihar Jail and said, “Today is our victory and it happened because of media, society & Delhi police. You can understand what is in my heart by my smile.”

On the other hand, Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi was equally elated and said, “As soon as I returned from Supreme Court, I hugged the picture of my daughter and said today you got justice.”

The rape convicts- Akshay Thakur, 31, Pawan Gupta, 25, Vinay Sharma, 26, and Mukesh Singh, 32, were hanged after spending their last few hours in isolation.

Bollywood also seemed happy because of the decision of the Supreme Court and reacted to it. Actress Preity Zinta was the first Bollywood celeb to react.

Preity tweeted, “Finally the #Nirbhayacase comes to an end. I wish it would have been faster but I’m happy it’s over. Finally, she & her parents are in peace. #RIPJyoti #RIPNirbhaya #Justicedelayed #TookTooLong,”

After Preity, many B-Town stars including Sushmita Sen, Taapsee Pannu, Rishi Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar, Shraddha Kapoor also rejoiced on the right decision taken by the Supreme Court against the rape convicts.
