At the trailer launch of the second installment, the director made a revelation that he offered a role to Arjun in the first part as well. Mohit said, “I had gone to him for Ek Villain too, this time I was hell-bent that I won’t let him go.” Arjun said that his dates were booked for another film. “Well, I was working on my film Tevar at that time and so I couldn’t do Ek Villain.”

He added: “I told Mohit to come back with the next part, as mere tevar kuch aur the. I meant I was doing my father’s film Tevar then and hence couldn’t do it. I was really happy to work with Mohit again.”

Nevertheless, Arjun is now roped in the franchise directed by Mohit Suri. The first part is a romantic action drama featuring Ritesh Deshmukh, Sidharth Malhotra, and Shraddha Kapoor. The Gunday actor shared his take on love: “Har kahani mein koi hero hota hai aur koi villain hota hai. Aapko apni kahani mein kabhi hero banna padta hai, toh kabhi viallin. Aur jab pyaar sachcha ho, toh aap yeh nahi sochte ki hero hai ya villain, but uska repercussion bhi alag alag hota hai. It’s just that the love has to be pure.”

Arjun will be seen playing a gray character along with John Abraham, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria. Adding to his character the actor said he always loved playing a dark role. He added: “I have been fortunate that I had enough shades to show in my films from the start. It is always exciting to do gray characters. I have always loved to go to the dark side.”

Ek Villain Returns is a mystery thriller helmed by Mohit Suri and produced by Ekta Kapoor under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures and T-Series. The action thriller film will hit the theaters on 29th July 2022.
