Watch the reaction of Anupam Kher's mother after watching 'The Kashmir Files' based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990.

Anupam Kher’s mother was in tears after watching the Hindi film ‘The Kashmir Files’. Based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the year 1990, the film was scheduled to release in August 2020. But due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, its release was put on hold indefinitely. ‘The Kashmir Files’ will now release on 11th March 2022.

Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film stars Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher in the lead roles. Anupam’s mother has watched the film before its release and is moved by it. The actor has shared a video of his mother in which she talks about the film and the exodus. She got emotional as she said that everything shown in the film is known to her. She also appreciated Mithun Chakraborty’s performance in the film.

Sharing the video, Anupam wrote in the caption, “Mom saw The Kashmir Files with us yesterday! She was shaken and silent for the longest time. This evening I went to meet her and asked her about the film. As you will see this is her most serious video. She kept quiet for a long time and then this is what she could say. Afterwards I gave her a never ending hug. And as I was leaving she said, “It’s good that you worked in this film. This was your responsibility towards the Kashmiris living around the world. People must know the story. She is right!! That is why I requested Vivek Agnihotri to give me the Executive producer title also for the film. I needed it! Some projects in life are beyond cinema and acting!”

Talking about the film, Anupam Kher said, Kashmiri Hindus had to wait for more than 31years for the world to know about their story of genocide. There was every attempt made to suppress the darkest tragedy of Independent India. But now finally presenting the first ever true story of the Kashmir Genocide, The Kashmir Files releases on the Republic Day 2022. Please help us in taking this story to the whole world!!”

Vivek Agnihotri’s last project was ‘The Tashkent Files’.
