Bollywood actor Anupam Kher is angered with the recent act of terrorism in the Kashmir valley. The killings of innocent Hindus and Sikhs has reminded him of the exodus of lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits that happened in 1990.
Anupam shared a video of himself on Instagram in which he said, “The brutal killing of Makkhan Lal Bindroo has shaken me to the core. The next day after this death, his daughter Shraddha gave interviews to media channels. Hiding the tears and pain of her father’s death, she called out the terrorists and paid a tribute to her father. Watching her courage made me feel proud but sad at the same time. It must not have been easy for her to talk about her father’s death in front of the world the very next day. It takes a strong heart.”
“The history is being repeated again. An attempt is being made to repeat what happened 31 years ago. They are trying to remove the minorities (Sikhs and Hindus) from Kashmir. But this won’t happen. We won’t let it happen. People are now understanding the lies that have been told for 31 years about the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. Common people can now tell that who is innocent and who are the killers. We live in the age of the Internet today. We have a medium to raise our voices. If we keep quiet today, this problem will reach our houses tomorrow. Don’t think that this issue is only of Kashmiris. It’s the problem for each one of us. Security forces are doing their job. But, as Indians, let’s not keep quiet. Let’s support Bindroo Sahab’s family and every single family who has been a victim of terrorism in Kashmir. This time, don’t keep quiet like the world has been quiet about the systematic murders of Kashmiri Hindus and rapes of our mothers and sisters and the final exodus of 4 lakh Kashmiri Hindus in 1990,” he further said.
Emphasizing the fact that it’s high time to unite against the common enemy- Terrorism, Anupam wrote on Instagram, “Brutal killing of MLBindroo and other innocent Indians trying to do their jobs in Kashmir is a reminder of what happened to #KashmiriHindus 31years back!! When thousands of Pandits were killed. Women were raped and more than four hundred thousand #KashmiriHindus were terrorised to abandon their homes in one night on 19th jan, 1990. Let’s not let it happen again. Please raise your voices! For yourself this time. Jai Hind!”
