Anil Kapoor Replies To Karan Johar’s Statement On Stardom

Anil Kapoor doesn’t agree with Karan Johar’s statement of young actors losing stardom

Anil Kapoor who is busy promoting his recent film Jug Jugg Jeeyo has shared his thoughts on Karan Johar’s comment on stardom in Bollywood. The filmmaker has recently stated that the actors of this generation are lacking the stardom that Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, or for that say Shah Rukh Khan had. Anil Kapoor has completed 39 years in the industry featuring in movies of all eras from the time of Dilip Kumar, and Rajesh Khanna to 90’s movies of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan coming over to the generation of young actors like Varun Dhawan and Rajkumar Rao.

Karan Johar produced the newest film Jug Jugg Jeeyo said the stardom in Bollywood has vanished, it is now only limited to Shah Rukh Khan and it will be completely over with the Baadshah. He doesn’t see any budding superstars in the industry after King Khan, feels the magnetism and glory are no longer left. The director-producer believes this generation fails to carry the aura and charm of the super superstars Bollywood had earlier. According to Anil Kapoor, who has been through all three generations, there will always be someone better and there will always be bigger stars. Mr. Kapoor clearly doesn’t seem to agree with the statement of Karan Johar.

A few days back in an interview with Film Companion, KJo said “The magnetism, the aura, the mystery, I don’t think this generation has it. When I was at a party, and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Mr. Dilip Kumar walked in, Mr. Shah Rukh Khan walked in, there were heads turning everywhere, I have seen it. That aura, everybody feeling their presence, that was power, that was stardom. I don’t think there’s going to be that kind of stardom anymore.”

Anil Kapoor Replied to Karan’s comment, “I don’t believe in that. There always will be someone better, always. There will always be someone bigger than the biggest. The universe and life is such. It sounds good, like ‘this is the one’, but they said the same about Elvis, and then Michael Jackson came.”

Elaborating his point he further explained, “Of course, there will be bigger stars. He might walk into a room and create a sensation all over the world… He might be the biggest sensation in the world, on the planet. Aisa kuch nahi hai, I don’t think so. I’ve seen it in my 40-45 years, in every profession. They’ve said, ‘This is it, iske baad kuch nahi‘. What do you mean? There will be someone better, in every which way, as a talent, in stardom, popularity, as a charmer… Just enjoy, have fun, make the most of it, and make sure you do a good job.”

Anil Kapoor is all set for Jug Jugg Jeeyo which also stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, and Neetu Kapoor. Directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Production the family drama released on 24th June 2022.
