Anek Trailer: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Political- Thriller Based On North-Eastern Insurgency

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana is all geared up for his upcoming movie Anek. Recently, the makers of the film dropped the official trailer of Anek on Youtube, raising the question of, What is needed to make an Indian feel like an Indian?

Ayushmann Khurrana is popularly known for his comic roles in films like ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhaan’, ‘Bala’, ‘Badhaai Ho’, and more. But this time the actor chose a completely different character for his upcoming film Anek.

Known for coming up with unconventional films and subjects, Ayushmann Khurana again hits the right chord with his upcoming film as he is seen playing a special agent in the movie. The trailer features Ayushmann as an agent named Joshua, who is sent on a mission to the Northeastern part of the country. Given the task to neutralize a threat being posed by separatists, the actor fights against a local group led by the formidable leader Johnson. And so, he enlists a woman to infiltrate the group to gather intelligence.

In an Instagram post announcing the film’s wrap, Ayushmann described it as being ‘full of surprises’ and about an ‘untouched subject’. In a statement, Ayushmann said, “Anek, is a project that’s extremely close to my heart and it’s a powerful film because it should invoke a sense of patriotism amongst audiences.” The actor said that the film will also ask the question, “What does it mean to be Indian?”

The film marks Ayushmann’s second collaboration with Anubhav Sinha after their hard-hitting film Article 15. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Andrea Kevichusa, Anek is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks. It is all set to release on 27th May 2022.
