Amitabh Bachchan On Winning Dada Saheb Phalke Award

On receiving the most prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award Amitabh Bachchan said, “I have more work to finish.”

The most beloved and evergreen star of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan was honored with the most prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award. This award is to commend the credible journey of Bollywood’s Superstar and his contribution to the film industry. He received this award from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.

When asked about how he feels to have received the Dada Saheb Phalke award, Bachchan said, “When this award was announced, a doubt arose in my head: if this is an indication for me to sit at home and relax after working for so many years? There is some work to I have to finish and certain possibilities are coming up where I may get a chance to do some work.” This statement from the 77-year old surely indicates that how much he loves his life as an actor and is ready to work and excel in whatever he does.

The veteran star was accompanied by his wife Jaya Bachchan and son Abhishek Bachchan to witness this golden moment, and surely it was a very proud moment for them. Big B was also bestowed with much love and compliments from the Bollywood stars who shared their congratulatory messages and some good memories with the star. In response, Amitabh wrote on his blog, “There is a paucity of words searching response.. for the generosity of words that pour in.. I am deeply grateful and most humbled ..my sincerest gratitude.”

Dada Saheb Phalke award is named after the father of Indian Cinema, Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, and is honored to someone who has done outstanding work in the cinema industry. With that being said, there is no better person than Amitabh Bachchan to receive this prestigious gem. The 4 time National Award winner started his journey as a struggling actor and rose to stardom thereafter.

On the work front, Bachchan will be seen on the big screen in movies like Gulabo Sitabo, Jhund, Bramhastra, Chehre and many more. Well, it is high time to admit that Big B on the big screen is a treat to the eyes, no matter which role he portrays.
