Amid Adipurush Backlash, Om Raut Reacts To Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu

Adipurush director Om Raut says he is proud of Akshay Kumar’s film Ram Setu as it proves our rich history

The first look and teaser of Adipurush were released during the festivities of Navratri. Following the teaser release, Om Raut’s directorial project has received major backlash from the audience for poor VFX and the wrong portrayal of deities. Amid the criticism, people have been drawing comparisons between Adipursh and Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu.

Adipurush featuring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan is based on the Indian mythological epic Ramayana. Ram Setu has some connection with Ramanaya as it talks about the scientifical reason behind the Adams bridge aka Ram Setu created by Lord Ram. Ram Setu and Adipurush have mythology and Ramayana in common.

Speaking of Ram Setu Om Raut said, “Ramayana is our history, and as a proud devotee of Lord Rama I am extremely happy since in Ram Setu it’s been proved that all that happened was not fiction. It proves to this world, this generation that Ramayana is our actual history and not just a mythological story. I even told Akshay sir that I am very proud that this film is coming. It proves our rich history and it shows everyone we have our Ram Janmabhoomi, we have Panchavati and we also have Ram Setu.”

Adipurush is adapted from the Hindu mythological epic Ramayana. The film based on Ramayana will have Prabhas essaying Ram, Kriti Sanon will be seen as Sita, Saif Ali Khan will play Lankesh aka Ravan and Sunny Singh will play the role of Laxman. Helmed by Om Raut Adipurush is produced by T-Series Films and Retrophiles. Adipurush is scheduled to release in theaters on 12th January 2023.

Ram Setu is an action-adventure film based on an archaeologist investigating whether Ram Setu is a myth or a reality. It is directed by Abhishek Sharma and co-produced by Cape of Good Films along with Amazon Prime Video, Abundantia Entertainment, and Lyca Productions. Apart from Akshay Kumar Ram Setu also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Satya Dev in leading roles. The film is set to hit theaters on October 25, 2022.
