Ameesha Patel recalls a shocking and nearly fatal experience she had while filming Gadar 2, where she reprised her iconic role as Sakina in the 2023 sequel alongside Sunny Deol. While the film brought back memories of her breakout role in Gadar, the actress recently revealed that her time on the set wasn’t without its dangers. Ameesha opened up about a near-death experience she faced while performing a crucial scene which left her unconscious for hours and fearing for her life.
In the recent interview with Jarp Media, Ameesha Patel recalled the horrifying incident and how she almost didn’t make it out of the scene when she had to shoot under the artificial rainfall which was freezing cold amid chilling weather of winter. She explained that it was the physical and mentally draining sequence and also, before performing a scene Ameesha had warned director Anil Sharma about her concerns before the shoot, requesting that the water used in the scene be hot to avoid any health issues. “I had said, ‘Anil ji, I’ll fall sick, please make sure that the water is hot,’” she recalled, “He assured me that everything would be fine.” Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
Ameesha went on to describe how, despite her precautions the water was freezing cold when it hit her during the shoot. “I was wearing a thin cotton salwar kameez, and unlike male actors, we don’t get the luxury of warmers inside our clothes,” she said. She explained how heroes often have jackets and leg warmers to protect them but for heroines that’s not an option. The first time the cold water splashed on her, it was an unpleasant shock and things took a darker turn after the scene wrapped.

Ameesha revealed that after finishing the scene, she suddenly collapsed, losing consciousness. “They thought I was dead,” she said. The crew rushed to help her, wrapping her in blankets and carrying her to the makeup van. She remained unconscious for four hours and during that time, everyone on set feared the worst. “They said, ‘She won’t survive.’” When she finally woke up, Ameesha realized she had completely zoned out.
What followed showed the true character of her Gadar 2 co-star Sunny Deol. Ameesha Patel recalls how Sunny Deol, playing Tara Singh in the film, turned into a real-life saviour during this time of need. “Sunny was my real-life Tara Singh,” she said, praising his care and concern. While she was unconscious, Sunny went on to checking her blood pressure with his personal machine and even called their mutual doctor Dr. Agarwal from Mumbai to get advice on what was best for her. “He was so sweet. He was checking with Dr. Agarwal to see what would be safe for me,” praising Sunny’s kindness and attention.
Despite the terrifying incident, this proves how Ameesha’s bond with Sunny Deol shines both on and off-screen. Their iconic pairing as Tara and Sakina remains one of the most beloved in Indian cinema with their chemistry still palpable in the 2023 sequel.
