46-year-old Ameesha Patel has been quite unlucky when it comes to love life. She dated Vikram Bhatt for five years and then made headlines for her relationship with London-based businessman Kanav Puri. But as of date, she is still single. And now, there are rumours of Ameesha dating late Congress leader Ahmed Patel’s son Faisal Patel.
Faisal turned a year older on Dec 30, and to wish him on his special day, Ameesha took to Twitter and posted a series of pictures. She wrote, “Happy birthday my darling, love you..have a super awesome year.”
It was followed by Faisal’s reply, which read, “I’m formally proposing in public. Will you marry me?”
Although Faisal later deleted his comment, fans were quick to pick hints of an affair.
And now, Ameesha Patel has claimed that she is just friends with Faisal. She told a leading news portal, “It is hilarious! Faisal and I go back a long way. We have known each other for years. I am friends with him and his sister. That message was just an internal joke between us. There is nothing more to it. I am single and I am happy being single. I am not interested in being in a relationship right now. Faisal is someone who loves to crack these jokes.”

Explaining Faisal’s decision to delete the message of marriage proposal, Ameesha said, “I told him that you shouldn’t have deleted the message and that I would have replied to the post in my style. But he said that he started getting calls from people. You see this is what happens with public figures, you can’t even joke in public.”
Both Ameesha and Faisal hail from political backgrounds. Talking about the same, she said, “Both of us share political backgrounds. My grandfather, Barrister Rajni Patel, worked with (former Indian PM) Indira Gandhi, while Mr Ahmed Patel worked with Sonia Gandhi. Our families have known each other for three generations. I was very close to Ahmed uncle. Faisal and I share common friends, too.”
On the work front, Ameesha will be next seen in Gadar 2 alongside Sunny Deol.
