Amazing! American president Donald Trump love DDLJ

Donald Trump mentioned DDLJ during his speech at the Motera cricket stadium in Ahmedabad.

Since the first visit of Donald Trump to India, people have been greatly looking forward to all of his visit’s updates. The arrival received more attention when PM Narendra Modi himself welcomed the Trump family at Ahmedabad airport. The dignitaries then went to the newly constructed Motera cricket stadium in Ahmedabad and Trump stated his thoughts about the Indian film industry during his speech.

Trump spoke to a live audience in the city and went on to talk about Bollywood movies and said, “Bollywood is a thriving industry & the world appreciates Indian films.” He explicitly mentioned Bollywood cult movies such as Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) and Sholay, a super hit film of the 1970s. He quoted, “The people take great joy in listening to Bhangra, music, dance, romance and drama and the classic films like DDLJ and Sholay. ”

This is not the first time the DDLJ has been mentioned by a US President in his speech. Former President Barack Obama had earlier referred to the famous Senorita dialog from the film during his New Delhi town hall address in 2015. One could read excerpts of the same, “Last celebration, here we celebrated the festival of lights in Mumbai. We danced with some children. Unfortunately, we were not able to schedule any dancing in this visit. Senorita, bade bade desho mein… you know what I mean.”

Trump had also praised the film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, which is based on homosexuality, by Ayushmann Khurrana before he came to India. Peter Tatchell an LGBTQ activist tweeted applauding Ayushmann’s film, Trump retweeted the same and wrote ‘Great’.

This is Trump’s first visit to India as President of The United States. He and his wife Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner will be in the country for two days.
