Alka Yagnik, the celebrated Bollywood playback singer, has been diagnosed with a rare hearing disorder, prompting widespread concern and support from fans and colleagues alike. The news was revealed through her Instagram account, where Yagnik expressed her hopes to recalibrate her life and make a comeback soon.

The post read, “It has been diagnosed by my docs as a rare sensory neural nerve hearing loss, due to a viral attack…This sudden, major setback has caught me completely unaware.” She added, ”With all your love and support I am hoping to recalibrate my life and come back to you soon. Your support and understanding will mean the world to me in this critical hour…”

The post has since garnered an outpouring of support from fans and fellow artists, who have been sending their best wishes for her swift recovery. “Praying for your speedy recovery Alkaji !! You are going to be ok and rocking as usual! Loads of love and best wishes” writes Shankar Mahadevan in the comments on the post.

Illa Arun, with whom Yagnik sang an iconic song “Choli Ke Peeche,” writes on her health condition and calls it “heartbreaking.” Sonu Nigam also prayed for Yagnik’s recovery. “Suraj Hua Maddham” singer commented, “I knew something was not right.. I’ll see you when I get back..”

Yagnik’s career has been nothing short of illustrious. With a repertoire that includes timeless hits like “Ek Do Teen” from Tezaab (1988 film), “Chura Ke Dil Mera” from the movie Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994) and “Taal Se Taal Mila” from Taal (1999) she has been a pivotal figure in Bollywood music for decades.
