Alia Bhatt is an actress known for her strong screen presence and top-notch acting skills. Her commendable work performances have made her name among the top actresses in the industry in such a short span of her career. After delivering many hits, Alia is all set to take her acting trajectory to another level with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-talked, controversial “Gangubai Kathiwadi”.
It is believed that fans will get to witness Alia’s best performance to date, Alia has given her everything into the making of the film. A recent update about the film is that an insider, who works at Bhansali Productions has revealed the on-set atmosphere, shooting with Alia.
“Alia is very proud of her performance in “Gangubai Kathiawadi”. She has pushed herself harder on this one than on any other project to date” revealed the source.
The source further went ahead and revealed how Alia, didn’t even use glycerine, in many parts of the film where she was supposed to cry on screen. “There are two sequences in the film where she has to pull out all stops, on a par with Shabana Azmi’s breakdown at the end of Shyam Benegal’s “Ankur”. Alia performed them without the help of glycerine. The tears just flowed non-stop even after the shots were over”, source added.
The director of the film, Sanjay Bhansali, has already compared Alia’s work to that of Shabana Azmi’s “Arth”, leading to speculations that Alia might even bag a national award for her outstanding performance in the movie.
Like many of his movies, “Gangubai Kathiwadi” earlier got into controversy amid defamation charges. It was claimed that the movie, which is inspired by Hussain Zaidi’s novel “The Mafia Queens Of Mumbai”, has some sections that apparently tarnish the image of “Gangubai”. The Bombay high court had, however, given an interim stay on the charges.
The plot of the movie revolves around Gangubai Kathiwadi, a woman who rose to power to become an underworld figure. The movie is said to release in February 2022.
