Alia Bhatt Urges Audience To Be A Little Kind To Hindi Films

Many actors added their opinion supporting Hindi films, and now even Alia Bhatt has shared her words on the subject.

The year 2022 hasn’t been great for Hindi movies. Despite starring biggest superstars like Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor movies failed to earn numbers at box office. Lately, Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer Shamshera too had a low run in cinemas. Alia Bhatt came forward to defend Shamshera after her husband received backlashes for his latest film.

Bollywood is facing a downfall post the global pandemic. Movies were halted from theatrical release due to lockdowns. Slowly and steadily theaters were opened and a few movies like Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa became blockbusters. Meanwhile, South films RRR, KGF 2, and Pushpa have gained global recognition earning 1200 crores at the box office.

Many actors added their opinion supporting Hindi films, and now even Alia Bhatt has shared her words on the subject. She said: “It’s a tough year for Indian cinema. We should be a little kind to Hindi films. Today, we are sitting here and saying, ‘Oh Bollywood, oh Hindi cinema’. But are we counting the films that have done well this year? Even in the South industry, all their films have not worked. A good film will always do well.”

She further added: “Nobody is just sitting, eating popcorn and saying, ‘Jo hona hai hone do’. Everybody cares. If you ask anyone, who is into the movie business, we are literally just talking movies, that’s all we talk about.”

Reason for the failure of movies could be the audience’s taste which has changed in past. Another reason for the low success rate of movies could be OTT, as films are made available online weeks after theatrical release. However, the film fraternity is working hard to deliver blockbuster movies.

On the work front, Alia Bhatt is busy promoting her maiden production film Darlings. She produced her first film in collaboration with Red Chilies Entertainment for Netflix. She is also gearing up for the release of the upcoming film Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor. Alia is also entering Hollywood and has completed shooting for Heart of Stone with Gal Gadot.
