Alia Bhatt Shares Her Experience About Working in Her Upcoming Film, ‘Jigra’

Bollywood Star Alia Bhatt Discusses Her Portrayal of Vedang Raina's Sister in Upcoming Film

National Award-winning actor, Alia Bhatt shared her experience working on her upcoming film Jigra. In her recent interview with News18, the Raazi (2018) star shares the details of her next venture with Vasan Bala.

Bhatt is known for her versatile performances in films like Raazi (2018), Gully Boy (2019), and Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), has always managed to captivate viewers with her nuanced portrayals. Her latest venture, Jigra is no exception.

Jigra builds a narrative around a brother and a sister and how a sister can do anything to protect her brother. The Archies (2023) star, Vedang Raina plays the brother, while Bhatt portrays his sister’s role.

On working with Raina, Bhatt calls him “sublime” and says, “I am not going to say much about the relationship we share in the film, but I can definitely say that we had a very seamless, easy-going work relationship.”

On the experience of getting directed by Bala, with whom the Bollywood actress had a “wonderful time working,” Alia said, “I have such fond memories of working with him.” She mentioned, “We are still working on it because the post-production is ongoing.”

According to Dear Zindagi (2016) star, Vasant Bala has got “the perfect balance of cool and nostalgia.” The Highway (2014) actor also said that Vasan has a “grounding, old-soul sort of quality, yet he is also so edgy and cool.” “And, as a filmmaker, the ways he writes and thinks is amazing,” she adds.

Vasan Bala, known for his unique storytelling style, adds another layer of anticipation to the project. His previous works, such as Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2018) and Monica, O My Darling (2022),  have been praised for their innovative narratives and strong character development.Jigra is scheduled for a theatrical release on 11th October 2024. Alia also co-produces via her production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions, and Karan Johar produces through Dharma Productions. Eternal Sunshine debuted in 2022 with the Netflix film, Darlings and its recent project was the Amazon Prime Video series, Poacher.

Alia Bhatt’s line-up of upcoming acting projects includes Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa, an action film with YRF in ‘spy-verse.’ The Bollywood star, who was last seen in Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), will be reuniting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for ‘Love and War,’ co-starring with husband, Ranbir Kapoor and her Raazi co-star Vicky Kaushal.
