Akshay Kumar has been quite active on social media during the lockdown. The actor has been making donations and spreading awareness about the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Amid the lockdown, the Bollywood industry has come to a standstill, and shooting of many films has been indefinitely postponed and one of the many victims to this is Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj Raj biopic.
The period drama film is based on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan. The shooting for the same had already begun, but the outbreak of the coronavirus has now put all plans on hold. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film’s set was already constructed in the suburbs of Mumbai. However, the recent reports suggest that the sets will be demolished due to the high maintenance cost.
With no shooting expected before the monsoon, the filmmakers have reportedly made the decision to destroy the sets. A source close to the development said, “The head honchos of Yash Raj Films had kept the set standing over the past two months, hoping that the situation would improve soon. However, with the rains only weeks away, it doesn’t seem feasible to retain the set any longer. The makers are currently procuring necessary permission to have it pulled down. Akshay had filmed a major portion of the Chandraprakash Dwivedi-directed drama at the Dahisar set before the lockdown was announced, but some crucial sequences have yet to be shot.”
The reports further added that the two massive sets were built. Additionally, the article added that two huge sets were built. While one was a palace, the other was in the film meant for an important sequence of action. The makers will probably shoot at an indoor set once the filming resumes. The film also features Miss World 2017, Manushi Chillar as the female lead.
Earlier this month it was announced that Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited horror-comedy film Laxmmi Bomb will skip its theatrical release and will be premiered on an OTT platform, whereas, there has been no announcement from the makers of Sooryavanshi about the film’s release date.
