Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his upcoming movie Raksha Bandhan. The actor was named Khiladi Kumar as he delivered numerous action movies back in the time. He has appeared in action films such as Khiladi, which gave him commercial success, Mr. Bond, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Sabse Bada Khiladi, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, Khiladi 420, and many more. Akshay Kumar was an action hero when he entered the industry.
In the initial time of his career, the superstar acted only in action films but later with the time he accepted and was offered versatile roles. During the trailer launch of Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar opened up on breaking his image as an action hero.
Akshay said, “I like to deconstruct myself whenever I take a film. I have made my image to a certain point so I want to break that each time. My criteria while doing films is always to challenge myself. That’s what I look for. When I first entered the industry, I used to do only action films. All the producers and directors would only give me action films then. It took me a lot of time to break that image. However, slowly and steadily, I tried doing different genres, different kinds of films.”
Akshay Kumar has featured in the diverse genres of film and varied characters in the 30 years of his career. However, he is still referred to as Khiladi of Bollywood, earlier for doing action films and now for completing films in short span of time. Mr. Kumar is the only actor in the industry right now who is finishing 4-5 films in a year and releasing movies every 3-4 months.
Days before announcing Raksha Bandhan, Akshay portrayed the character of the 12th emperor in Samrat Prithviraj released on 3rd June 2022. Earlier to that the actor featured alongside Kriti Sanon in Bachchan Pandey. Sooryavanshi, Atrangi Re, and Bell Bottom add to the list of movies the superstar completed in the last year.
Raksha Bandhan directed by Aanand L Rai is slated to release on August 11. Following that, Akshay is working on Ram Setu with Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha. He also has Selfiee with Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Diana Penty, OMG 2 – Oh My God 2, and Soorarai Potru remake in the kitty.
