Ajay Devgn Reveals Drishyam 2 Is Different From Original Malayalam Film

Drishyam 2 lead Ajay Devgn reveals how the remake is different from the original Malayalam film starring Mohanlal

The trailer of the suspense thriller Drishyam 2 was launched on Monday afternoon. Drishyam 2 is a sequel to Drishyam which was released in 2015. Both the parts starring Ajay Devgn are remakes of the Malayalam film of the same name. The original film featured Mohanlal and its second installment was released in 2021.

While the Hindi version of the second part is all set to release in November, Ajay was asked how it is different from the original. During the trailer launch event, which was also attended by Tabu and other casts, Ajay answered the question. He mentioned that the film is quite different from the Malayalam film also they have introduced new characters in the Hindi version. 

Ajay said, “There were a lot of characters added, and a lot of changes made. You won’t see Akshaye’s character in the Malayalam film or Gaitonde. So, a lot of changes have been made but like Abhishek said, keeping the soul of the film intact. So, I think, when you see the film, it’s going to be very fresh for you.”

Director Abhishek Pathak who took up the directorial duties after Nishikant Kamat also answered the question. He revealed a lot of changes were maid to the Hindi version. He said, “When we started writing the film, it was not as if we started shooting right away. It took us seven months to write the film. So, there are a lot of changes that make it different from the Malayalam and Telugu versions.” 

Drishyam 2 is a remake of a Malayalam film of the same name. Helmed by Abishek Pathak the suspense thriller is produced under the banners of Panorama Studios. In the second chapter, the cast welcomes Akshaye Khanna as a lawyer. The previous cast including Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Ishita Dutta, Shriya Saran, and Rajat Kapoor among others remains the same. Drishyam 2 is scheduled to release on 18th November 2022.
