Ajay Devgn And Sidharth Malhotra Starrer Thank God Lands In Legal Trouble

A case has been filed against Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and director Indra Kumar for hurting religious sentiments in their upcoming film, Thank God

A case has been filed against Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and director Indra Kumar for their upcoming film, Thank God. It is alleged that they have hurt religious sentiments in the film. Thank God is a fun family entertainer which will see a face-off between Chitragupt and a common man.

The trailer of the comedy-drama was released last week. In the 3mins 7secs long trailer Ajay Devgn plays Chitragupt while Siddharth Malhotra is a common man. Ajay is seen in a royal regal look donning the modern avatar of Chitragupt in trousers, shirt, and blazer. It is set in the court of Chitragupt, who is said to be a record keeper of human deeds in heaven as per Indian mythology. After a car crash, the Shershah actor steps into the court of Chitragupt.

This hurted the sentiments of the Kayastha community, which worships Lord Chitragupt. A case has been filed in the court of Additional Magistrate Monika Mishra. The magistrate fixed November 18, 2022, as the date for recording the statement of complainant Himanshu Srivastava.

A petition has been filed by advocate Himanshu Srivastava in Jaunpur and his petition says, “Chitragupta is regarded as the Lord of Karma and keeps a record of a man’s good and bad deeds. Such depiction of Gods can create an unpleasant situation since it hurts religious sentiments.”

The petition accused Ajay of using “poor jokes” and objectionable words” in the film. The petition also stated that Thank God is an attempt to “spread hatred and humiliation”. It further added in order to “earn profit and increase TRP, objectionable scenes have been filmed, which adversely affected communal harmony.”

Helmed by veteran director Indra Kumar Thank God features, Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead role. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banner of TSeries and Maruti International. The film will open in cinemas on 25th October.
