Anees Bazmee is riding high on the super success of the recent release Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The horror-comedy has grossed over Rs. 175 crores across India. The filmmaker Anees Bazmee is said to reunite with Deewangee star Ajay Devgn for the film’s sequel. Anees Bazmee directed Ajay Devgn in Naam which has not found the big screen for 18 years now and before that the duo’s movie Deewangee was released in 2002.
Amidst the reports of releasing the 2006 film Naam after a decade and a half long break the director is expected to make a sequel to his 2002 film Deewangee. The thriller drama stars Akshaye Khanna and Urmila Matondkar with Ajay Devgn. Written and directed by Anees Bazmee the film was made on a budget of Rs 90 million and earned Rs 220 million at Box Office.
Anees Bazmee On Deewangee Sequel
Recently there are reports that Anees Bazmee would collaborate with Ajay Devgn for either a sequel or a remake of Deewangee. To this, the director said, “Ajay is a friend. Whenever we meet, we talk a lot. It is not even like we keep meeting frequently, but whenever we meet, it feels like yesterday that we had last met. That’s the equation, the relationship, the love that I share with him.”
The filmmaker revealed the meeting with the actor and that they recalled their time filming Deewangee. He added: “So, when I met him sometime back, he had said, ‘Anees bhai, what a film we had made- Deewangee’. All of us, who are connected with the film are very proud that we had made a successful film.”
Anees continued: “Ajay, and even I want that a part 2 of the film should be made. Just imagine- if a person could be that shrewd back then, now after 20 years what level he would be at. If I can think at that level, if I can spin a story around it, then most definitely we will make Deewangee 2.”
On the work front, Ajay Devgn was recently seen in Runway 34 as captain Vikrant Khanna. He was also featured in Telugu blockbuster RRR earlier this year. His upcoming movie for this year is ‘Thank God’ with ‘De De Pyaar De’ co-star Rakul Preet Singh and Sidharth Malhotra. A drama Thriller Mission Majnu is also in Ajay’s kitty.
Receiving a good response to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Anees is in reports to make sequels of other movies too. The director is reported to make a sequel to his movies No Entry and Welcome’s third installment. Apart from that his other project Saade Saati with Ajay Devgan slated to release in December.
