Aanand L Rai On Akshay Kumar’s Gorkha “Will Make Film When We Are 100% Right”

Filmmaker Aanand L Rai shared an update on Akshay Kumar starrer Gorkha based on 1971 Indo-Pak war hero

Akshay Kumar and Aanand L Rai announced their next project in October last year. This marks the third collaboration of the actor and the filmmaker. After Raksha Bandhan, the duo teamed up for Gorkha. The movie is based on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo, a legendary officer of the Gorkha Regiment of the Indian Army.

With reports citing that the movie is going on the back burner, director Aanand L Rai who is associated with this project as a producer shared an update. He said: “Films are all about emotions. We are working on Gorkha and we will keep working on it till the time it is perfect to go on floors. Raksha Bandhan happened so quickly, but then there are some films which take time because if the way in which we want to make them.”

He further added: “We will only make the film when we feel that we are 100 percent right with the subject and we have cracked it well. We are finding the right bound script and the process is on as we speak. That’s the process we follow for all our films.”

Gorkha is a biopic of 1971 Indo-Pak war hero Major General Ian Cardozo. The movie is directed by Sanjay Chauhan and bankrolled by Aanand L Rai under Colour Yellow Productions.

Major General Ian Cardozo said, “I feel honoured for this story to be told on the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war. It commemorates the courage and sacrifice of the armed forces of India. I look forward to working with Aanand and Akshay as they bring this to life. This story reflects the values and spirit of every officer of the Indian Army.”

Akshay Kumar has a handful of projects in his kitty. After Samrat Prithviraj, a major flop at the box office, he is gearing up for Raksha Bandhan to be released on 11th August. Apart from these he has Selfiee, Capsule Gill, Mission Cindrella, Soorarai Pottru remake, and Ram Setu are in pipeline.
