8 Years Of Kai Po Che: Remembering SSR For His Debut Film

Director Abhishek Kapoor remembers Sushant Singh Rajput as his first film 'Kai Po Che' completes 8 years of its release.

Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s film Kai Po Che has completed eight years of its release. It marked the Bollywood debut of Sushant who left Television at the peak of his career to try his luck in films. Kai Po Che was a tale of three friends and it was based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life. Alongside Sushant were Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh in equally important roles.

With relatively new faces in the film, Kai Po Che was well received by the audience and critics. Its success became a turning point in each of their careers.

As the film completes 8 years, director Abhishek Kapoor remembered the late actor and said, “I really miss him and every time I realise I can’t reach him anymore, it leaves me disturbed.”

Talking about why he chose Sushant for the film, he said that he never saw any of Sushant’s previous works before casting him. But Abhishek said Sushant was just fabulous right from the start and from the first day itself he knew that they are going to fly together.

Abhishek recalled that Sushant was an intense actor and he used to research his roles well enough to know the characters like the back of his hand.

After Kai Po Che, Abhishek and Sushant had collaborated again in 2018 for the film ‘Kedarnath’ which was again a commercially successful film.
