Finally, the wait is over! Shah Rukh Khan is all set to make a comeback on big screen after four years with Yash Raj Film’s Pathaan, which is set to open worldwide on 25 January. Past few years have been a strenuous ride for Shah Rukh Khan as well as Bollywood. The 57 year old star, who is fondly known as ‘King Khan’ and ‘King of Bollywood’ had three back to back flops- Fan (2016), Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017), and Zero (2018). But Shah Rukh Khan is all set to revive Bollywood and reclaim his throne as ‘King of Bollywood’ with his upcoming high voltage action thriller ‘Pathaan’.
Although Pathaan, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham has stirred up some political and religious controversies, here are six reasons we believe Pathaan can be a huge blockbuster.
1. Shah Rukh Khan’s return to big screen after four years:
The most obvious and top most reason is that Pathaan marks Shah Rukh Khan’s return to big screen after four years of sabbatical. After back to back flops, actor’s fans have been waiting for their favourite superstar’s comeback film with bated breath. And people seem to love the massy route YRF has taken for SRK‘s comeback, which has helped create a more buzz for the film.
2. SRK in commercial mass avatar:
Pathaan marks Shah Rukh Khan’s return to complete mass avatar after a long time. After playing different and unique roles in Fan (2016), Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017) and his last release Zero (2018), King Khan’s fans have been eagerly waiting to once again see him in a complete mass avatar. And their wait finally ends with Pathaan. The film trailer shows him ooze his charisma as a mass hero after many years.
3. High voltage action:
There was a time when romance was the most popular genre in Bollywood but now it has been taken over by action. And Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan promises to be another mass entertainer with ample high voltage action scenes. From high-octane car chases, visceral shootouts, to intricate hand to hand combats, the film’s trailer gives us some intricately designed action choreography, which promises never seen before action thriller in Bollywood.
4. A well compiled trailer:
The newly dropped trailer of “Pathaan” might be one of the prominent reasons behind the huge buzz around the movie. Smartly edited trailer gives us glimpses of all the important characters as well as some high voltage action sequences, but does not give away too much about the film’s plot. All in all, it has managed to create a hype that will surely help the movie succeed.
5. SRK-Deepika’s reunion:
Deepika Padukone made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om (2007), and then they co-starred in Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Year (2014)- all three movies turned out to be superhits at the box office. Both actors received lot of appreciation for their on screen chemistry and fans of both actors are eagerly waiting to see them sharing a screen space again. And much awaited Pathaan will finally put an end to SRK and Deepika Padukone’s fans wait of eight years.
6. Part of YRF spy universe:
Pathaan has already created a huge buzz as it is going to be the fourth film of YRF spy universe after Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and War (2019), which was also helmed by Siddharth Anand who is also the director Pathaan. Although there is no official confirmation yet, there are reports that superstar Salman Khan, reprising the role of Tiger, will make also make special appearance in Pathaan. Being part of spy universe has already helped the makers to create more buzz about Pathaan.
