5 Bollywood Remakes Of 2022 Which Miserably Failed To Impress Us

From Laal Singh Chaddha to Jersey, check out the 5 Bollywood remakes of 2022 that have failed to impress the audience.

2022 is a sad year for Bollywood. Several mega-budget movies starring biggest of superstars have failed miserably at the box office. And one of the many reasons behind their failure is the culture of remaking. Bollywood filmmakers seem to have run out of good original scripts and are now blindly copying some superhit films in other languages with least creativity of their own. Here’s a list of 5 Bollywood remakes of 2022 that have miserably failed to impress the audience:

  1. Jersey

Jersey is the remake of the 2019 Telugu film with the same name. The original film featured Naveen Babu aka Nani and was well received by the audience. Gowtam Tinnanuri, who wrote and directed the Telugu movie also made the Hindi version starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur. While Shahid’s performance was widely praised, the film tanked at the box office.

2. Laal Singh Chaddha

Laal Singh Chaddha is a classic example of remakes gone wrong. It is the official remake of the classic American film Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. Aamir Khan stepped into the shoes of Tom Hanks to play the Desi Gump and failed miserably. His Punjabi accent and weird expressions are a big turn-off for the audience. Moreover, he faced massive backlash and FIRs for his poor portrayal of the character as an Indian Army Officer. The film is one of the biggest flops of Aamir Khan’s career.

3. Hit: The First Case

Actor Rajkummar Rao, who created his own niche in Bollywood, has also disappointed his fans this year. He was seen in Hindi film Hit: The First Case, which is the remake of a Telugu film with the same name released in 2020. Fans were least interested to watch this Hindi remake as well.

4. Dobaaraa

Actress Taapsee Pannu, known for doing off-beat films and unconventional roles, also disappointed her fans with her latest release. Taapseee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap came together for the remake Spanish film Mirage. The mystery drama film wasn’t welcomed by the audience with open hearts.

5. Looop Lapeta

Prior to the box office disaster of Dobaaraa, Taapsee did another remake. She was seen in the Netflix film Looop Lapeta, which is a remake of German film Run Lola Run. Taapsee was saved from the shame of box office failure as Looop Lapeta had an OTT release. Nevertheless, this film failed to create a mark amongst the audience.

All the Bollywood remakes of this year have been major disasters. But the Hindi filmmakers seem to be turning a blind eye to these failures as they continue to make remakes. In the upcoming months, we have more remakes up for release. This includes Vikram Vedha, Selfiee, Drishyam 2, Shehzada, Bholaa and Cuttputlli.
