25 Years of ‘Taal’: Anil Kapoor Reveals Farah Khan Opted Out At Last-Minute From ‘Ramta Jogi’ Choreography

A silver jubilee! It’s been 25 years of ‘Taal,’ and the film remains a cherished memory among Bollywood fans. Featuring an exceptional cast, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Amrish Puri and more – directed by the renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai and ‘Taal’ is celebrated for its remarkable direction, compelling screenplay, especially for its iconic music given by AR Rahman.

To mark the 25 Years of ‘Taal’, Anil Kapoor, who continues to captivate audiences, shared his excitement on social media. Reflecting on his character played as Vikrant Kapoor, the actor described it as an “unforgettable moment” in his career. While reminiscing about the film, he revealed an intriguing detail about the song ‘Ramta Jogi’ and he disclosed that Farah Khan was originally set to choreograph the song but exited at the last minute. Consequently, the legendary Saroj Khan stepped in just a night before the shoot at Filmistan. Kapoor, known for his versatile talent and enthusiasm, performed the song without any rehearsals!

Further, Anil Kapoor expressed his gratitude to Subhash Ghai for his trust and described working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as a thrilling experience. He noted that ‘Taal’ holds a special place in his heart as he “swept all the major awards” for Best Supporting Actor that year. “It was a truly humbling experience. Here’s to many more years of music, dance, and drama!” Kapoor concluded.

Released in 1999, ‘Taal’ was a major hit, later dubbed in Tamil and remade in Sri Lanka. It was also officially selected for the 2005 Ebertfest: Roger Ebert’s Film Festival, and featured in the Celebrating Dance in Indian Cinema section at the 45th IFFI, along with premiering at the Chicago International Film Festival.

On the professional front, Anil Kapoor recently impressed audiences as the host of ‘Bigg Boss OTT 3’ and is preparing for his next film, ‘Subedaar,’ marking his first collaboration with filmmaker Suresh Triveni. He is also rumoured to be part of YRF’s spy universe as a RAW officer.
