In the era of remakes in Bollywood, another name added to the list is the 1990s superhit, Jamai Raja. Yes, you read that right, after 32 years the masala entertainer is on the cards for a remake. 1990s big hit Jamai Raja starred Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in the lead and now the film is set for a remake. The film was directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy and produced by Vijaylakshmi Arts Picture.

Completing 32 years on 19th October, the makers are all set for a remake of the film. As per Variety reports, Indian production house Shemraoo Entertainment is going to collaborate with Indian Media Entertainment Network for the remake.

Our first move in reintroducing old content to the contemporary audience is our partnership with IMEN for `Jamai Raja`. They have proven expertise and the right acumen to develop enjoyable content and reinvent the classic on such a large scale.” 

1990 box office hit Jamai Raja is itself a Hindi remake of the 1989 Telugu film Attaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu. The story revolves around conflicts between mother-in-law and son-in-law different than the usual disputes between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. 

The makers announced the news on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Jamai Raja. The original film featured Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in lead alongside, Anupam Kher, Shakti Kapoor, and Hema Malini among others. Variety reports final announcement of the star cast for the remake is still not confirmed. The makers are contemplating adapting the screenplay to make it an action comedy film.
