Actress Naya Rivera’s Dead Body Found In The Southern California Lake Piru

As per the reports, Naya Rivera's body was found on Monday morning in Southern California lake where she disappeared while on a boat trip with her 4-year-old son.

A body found in Lake Piru, about 56 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles on Monday morning was confirmed to be that of the “Glee” actress, police officials told TMZ.

“The recovery is in progress,”  the Office of the Ventura County Sheriff wrote on Facebook.

Since renting a pontoon boat on the lake, Rivera, 33, was missing from Wednesday.

Her son, Josey, was found sleeping and wearing a life jacket on board the vessel. When the two went swimming, he told authorities his mom never got back in the boat.

Divers discovered the floating body at around 9:10 a.m. Local time while looking for the actress in the lake’s northeastern portion where she was last seen, KTLA news station confirmed.

“We had boat crews on the lake at first light this morning with divers, and they discovered the body floating,”  Capt. Eric Buschow, of Ventura County Sheriff, told the media.

Buschow said that the body was found in the middle of a lake, but it is uncertain if the location is the one captured in a photo she sent to a relative shortly before her demise.

“This is an area where we have been searching very hard because we believe it was where she was last seen in the water,” Buschow told the publication.

Buschow said the office of the medical examiner was on the way to the site.

“They will examine the body and perform an autopsy at a later time,” Buschow added.

Rivera ‘s family was gathered at the dock on Monday as authorities recovered the body and was a constantly present during search efforts.

“It’s being really tragic and obviously rollercoaster of emotion for them, too. Finding out she’s missing then this day-to-day wait [of] not knowing,” Buschow stated. “Hopefully this provides some level of closure.”

Rivera, who grew up in Valencia, some 20 miles from Lake Piru, started her career as a child actress and model, starring in national television advertisements and a short-lived CBS sitcom.

She was best known on the Fox musical comedy-drama “Glee” from 2009 to 2015 for her depiction of mean girl Santana Lopez.

Her last update on social media was a video of her son with the caption “Just the two of us.”

In 2018 she called her son her greatest influence in an interview with People. “First and foremost, everything I do is for Josey. He’s at the best age! He’s talking so much and [he’s] so cool, kind and sweet,” she told the publication. “Starting this company from the ground up is something I’m really, really proud of. I know that my son is proud of it too. It’s a sweet bond that we share together.”

Rivera also opened up in her memoir about having an abortion during a split with Josey ‘s father, Ryan Dorsey.

The couple married in 2014 though they had a rocky relationship. The actress had filed for divorce twice and was arrested on domestic violence charges in November 2017 for allegedly punching Dorsey, 36, in the face.

Charges were eventually dropped, with Dorsey stating his then-wife had never hurt him.

In June 2018 their divorce was finalized.

Also in 2013, Rivera was engaged to rapper Big Sean but the pair called it quits six months later.

She leaves behind two younger siblings — Mychal Rivera, who was picked as a tight end by the Oakland Raiders in 2013, and Wilhelmina model Nickayla Rivera.

The death of Rivera is yet another tragedy affecting the cast of “Glee.” Cory Monteith, who has played Finn Hudson, died of an overdose of drugs in 2013.

Mark Salling, who starred as Noah “Puck” Puckerman committed suicide in 2018—two months after charging guilty to possessing child pornography.

“Glee” assistant director Jim Fuller died in his 2013 sleep of suspected heart failure and the following year, production assistant Nancy Motes — Julia Roberts’ half-sister — committed suicide.
