Small screen star Manmeet Grewal who acted shows such as Aadat Se Majbur and Kuldeepak commits suicide at his Navi Mumbai residence. Reportedly Manmeet took this hard step due to financial crisis and lack of work due to coronavirus. The actor was found hanging at his residence by his wife, however, when she tried calling for help by screaming, neighbors thought Manmeet has contracted the virus so no one stepped out.
Talking to a news portal, Manmeet’s close friend Manjit Singh, said, “He was in stress because of work as one of our web series which we were making for Amazon came to halt due to lockdown. We had done casting for it. And few of his Ad commercials which were in pipeline got canceled due to this pandemic crisis. So, he was facing financial problems and was depressed.”

Interestingly few hours before his death Manjit had spoken to Manmeet on call about well being, Manjit claims he spoke normally, “We spoke to each other last evening around 5. He was very normal that evening, went to his room and locked it from inside. That time his wife was in kitchen making food. When she heard the noise of a chair, she rushed to the bedroom and held him. She scream a lot for the help and neighbours did come hearing the noise but no one came forward to help or get him down. He had hung himself with a duppata but no one was ready to touch him or cut the dupatta, fearing he was suffering from Corona. Inspite of telling that he is not infected with it, no one came ahead. In fact, everyone was busy making videos. Then a peone came and he cut the duppata and took him down. And almost after two and half hours, the ambulance came to take his body.”
Manmeet’s co-star Anuj Pandit is devastated by his sudden death, talking about the actor he said, “I also got to know about this disappointing news via one of our co-stars and it is something unbelievable. He was one of the most jolly people I have come across. When we used to shoot for our show, you could never make out even if he is stressed. I was not in constant touch with him as we all get busy with our own lives but last time I spoke to him was nearly 6 months ago when he called me to wish on some festival. Other than that he used to keep sending me forward messages and jokes. He was also into casting now and used to do cast for lot of web series and stuff. So, he used to keep me updated about that also via messages. May his soul rest in peace but I still can’t believe he is not with us anymore.”
The actor was rushed to a nearby hospital but he was declared dead, “The actor was in so much of trouble, that they had mortgaged golden ornaments. He didn’t have money to pay Rs 8500 as rent,” an officer from the police station said in the report. Manmeet is survived by his wife and parents who stay in Punjab. The couple got married two years ago.
